A large praying mantis (Mantis religiosa) is against a tan/parchment background. The background has a large swirl of brown and green ink. A faint drawing of large leaves are behind it and hinted at with bursts of green color. The praying mantis itself is a painting that fades into drawing as you move down its body and away from the head or claws.
Inspiration
For months I kept seeing praying mantis everywhere. They were in my garden, my yard, when I was out running errands, in my social media feed. The multiple encounters encouraged me to paint one, and this painting was born.
