11 x 14 inches
Mixed media, Cradled Wood Board
This sculptural painting “Measure of the Waters” depicts hands cupping water. Under them is a vision of the dry land of Colorado’s front range having become a reflective body of water, as well as the 3D topography of the Rocky Mountains. Painted in acrylics and oils onto a 3D topographical raised relief map, this piece was originally inspired by Job 28 in the Bible and how humans in search of wisdom “search the sources of the rivers” and how God “measures out the waters”.
The painting is continued on the sides of the 3/4 inch cradled wood panel. Topographic features of the artwork add an additional 1/2 inch of depth. It comes ready to hang. It is framed in a maple wood floater frame which has been painted to a darker brown stained look, with picture wire attached, varnished, signed by the artist on the front and back, and with a certificate of authenticity.
