Artwork Information

Description

24x36in Original oil on canvas with gallery-wrapped edges. Ready to hang.

The story of this painting is very personal to me. I first got a vision for this piece while traveling in Rhodes. I never painted this type of imagery before, mom and baby, but I felt it calling me.

Earlier this year, we got the happy news: I was pregnant, this time a baby girl. I was getting ready to announce our news, but shortly after returning home from our summer trip to Greece, I lost the baby. It was a devastating time for us. This pain we went through (still going through) is something I never imagined happening.

This piece is dedicated to all the moms and babies we’ll get to hold one day in heaven. Life is precious, even if we spend only a moment here on earth.

I couldn’t ignore the image of this mom and baby in my mind, so I knew I needed to paint it, and with every brushstroke, it’s bringing my heart happiness and healing.

I kept seeing marigolds and knew they needed to be part of the painting. The bees also needed to be there, representing new life and abundance.
