Medusa's dream

by: Dedalo

Medusa’s Dream Medusa’s Dream portrays Medusa not as the monster she became, but as the woman she remembers herself to be. In her dream, she is beautiful again—untouched by the transformation that condemned her to a life of isolation. The moon hanging from her ear represents love: something luminous and intimate, yet now as distant and unreachable to her as the moon itself. Surrounded by darkness and serpents, Medusa dreams of a version of herself capable of being seen, desired, and loved without fear. The unfinished areas of the painting reinforce the fleeting nature of the vision, allowing her figure to emerge from—and eventually dissolve back into—the darkness, like a dream that cannot last.
