Let's meet Nicolette van den Hadelkamp
At Art Social Gallery we have many amazing unique artists, but who are they ? What inspires them and what can we learn from them?

Today we interviewed Nicolette van den Hadelkamp. An artist who makes still lives with lots of colour. Her capturing vases have little scenes hidden in them and her elegant woman are capturing your attention every time you walk past them. In this blog we will dive a bit deeper into her world of art.

Where are you from?

The Netherlands

What do you love to paint?

Flowers, big stillifes, women in their strength from softness and inner wisdom, I also love abstract elements in my art

Have you always been a painter?

No, around my 30’s I decided to go for my biggest dream, becoming a professional artist

What do you love most about your job?

The freedom and that I can be 100% myself, by showing my raw honest self to the world I feel I can inspire others to do the same. That it is ok to be who you are, it is enough

Are you able to make a living out of it?

Haha, this is always the second question people ask me when I tell them I am an artist. At the moment I would say it depends on your standard of living but the financial part of my art business is getting healthier each year.

What do you hope to achieve in 5 years?

Create the most amazing paintings, having a team of people around me who help me with my art business so I can focus on creating and setting the vision for my art business. My art would probably find even more homes around the globe. From originals to prints and different carddecks.

In what kind of space would you love to hang your art?

In beautiful houses, buildings that have a bohemian chic look, where people come and live that have a good vibe and want to be the best version of themselves

What inspires you?

Life itself. I find it super fascinating being here on earth and the choices we can make everyday to live or life’s free and beautiful. How being connected to each other can heal us and how sometimes magical things happen if you start to surrender to what is, to your purpose in life. The beautiful flowers nature gives us are an inspiration and the cyclic things, like the seasons, moon phases, our feminine cycles and the power it beholds.

What artists do you admire?

Lita Cabellut, Donna Young, Dimitra Milan, Chris Luka.

How do you get in touch with your collectors?

By connecting to people, you never know who becomes your collector. I love connecting to others and I feel best when my circle of collectors grows organically instead of pushing really hard. I do what I do and if it resonates with people I love that and if it doesn’t it’s ok too.

What would your dream studio look like?

A big studio with a lot of windows looking right into nature overlooking the ocean

What has been your coolest project so far?

I have a few breakthrough pieces that I really love. I love all my still life pieces. Recently I started a new collection called ‘Things with Wings’ the first painting I created for this collection is a still life with 3 vases with an angel and a swan, at the moment that’s my favorite but it changes all the time.

Is there anything else you would like to add?

If you not already do, start listening to the small hints life gives you to live your most beautiful life. It can be that ‘coincidence’, a sign that keeps coming back or your body telling you something by a pain or an animal showing up during a walk in nature. I believe this is how God, the divine communicates with us and guides us. It is how I found my way back to my true self and a happy and fulfilling life.
