Lament' is another portfolio piece that began shortly after returning from the Milan Artist Retreat in Greece 2021. My journey through the Voice section of the Mastery Program really helped me to process many complex emotions and also rewire some false self beliefs. In this piece, the flowing blues represent living waters flowing through us - how it felt floating weightless in the Mediterranean sea. The sparrow of her shoulder is a representation of loyalty and love - of which I saw many for the first time playing over the waters. I realized, in the process of grief comes change and new life (if we embrace it), we can rest assured even in our anguish we are not alone in it - despite how we feel. This painting is a message of hope and comfort.
