Description

Arella Tomlinson

11 x 14 inches

Mixed media, Cradled Wood Board

The mediator,
she soaks at the spot where the city meets the mountains.
Turning roads to ravines, extending paths of forgiveness.
All is reconciled.

This sculptural painting “Reconciled” depicts a woman with eyes closed, resting, relaxing, praying or meditating. She is imposed upon a landscape as seen from above, in the form of a collaged 3D topographical raised relief map of Boulder, Colorado and the Rocky Mountains, where the mountains have become her hair. Her head is placed at the meeting point, at the foothills or the front range, representing the desire for reconciliation (for instance, between the city and the wilderness, humans and nature, humans and God.) This piece was originally inspired by Job 28 in the Bible and the human search for wisdom.

The cradled wood panel has 3/4 inch lightly stained sides. Topographic features of the artwork add an additional 1 inch of depth. It comes ready to hang. It is framed in a maple wood floater frame, with picture wire attached, varnished, signed by the artist on the front and back, and with a certificate of authenticity.
