Description

Eva Bratopoulou

80 x 80 cm

Mixed media with oil, Gallery Wrapped Canvas

Infinity: This artwork depicts an ocean shell which symbolize for me the endless possibilities we have when we believe in our own magic, the divine protection and the power.

Is a species of Giant Clam in the Family Tridacna and the family Hippopus, its name is Hippopus hippopus, also known as the Horse Hoof clam and Strawberry clam. The scientific name hippopus comes from Ancient Greek for "horse foot" (ἵππος, hippos, "horse," and πούς, pous, "foot").

Generally, seashells can symbolize birth, purity, fertility and good fortune. Because of their association with the sea, which connects distant places, shells are supposed to enhance travel luck as well as strengthen long-distance relationships. Seashells also provide relief from stress and offer a protective shield.

This open giant clam looks like a butterfly. Butterflies have become a metaphor for transformation and hope, a symbol for rebirth and resurrection, is an emblem of the soul and of unconscious attraction towards light.

It also looks like angel’s wings. The angel wing is very special as it is a symbol of angels who symbolize protection, purity, courage, love, harmony and protection. They provide us with happiness, hope and faith.

Inspiration
“We are travelers on a cosmic journey, stardust, swirling and dancing in the eddies and whirlpools of infinity. Life is eternal. We have stopped for a moment (-butterfly’s flight-) to encounter each other, to meet, to love, to share. This is a precious moment (-like an angel surrounding us within his wings-). It is a little parenthesis in eternity.”

― Paulo Coelho, The Alchemist
