For a year, I watched the sun rise over the ocean every morning. Most days, nothing happened — just gray. Then one moment, the edge of the world would catch fire, and light broke through like it had been waiting the whole time. That's what a hard season feels like. Then that's what breaking through feels like. I painted this for the moment it's gone — the second the light wins.
